The Salton Sea, a vast body of water in Southern California, has been shaken by an unexpected earthquake. The aftershocks continue to rattle the area as the ground trembles beneath the surface. Suddenly, a horde of prehistoric mollusks emerges from the depths and begins to wreak havoc on the local population.
As the Naval officer and several scientists investigate the source of this sudden threat, they realize that they are not alone in their search for answers. The creatures seem to be able to communicate with each other through some form of telepathy or sonar, and they are rapidly moving towards the Imperial Valley, the canal system of which is located just north of the Salton Sea.
The officers and scientists quickly realize that the creatures are not harmless. They have evolved over millions of years to become one of the most fearsome predators on Earth. Their shells are incredibly strong and resilient, and they can survive in almost any environment. But their numbers are growing, and they are determined to take over the world.
In response, the officers and scientists launch a desperate effort to stop the monsters before they can cause irreparable damage. But despite their best efforts, the creatures manage to break through the defenses and enter the canal system. The officers and scientists are trapped inside the tunnels, unable to leave. The creatures begin to attack them, using their powerful jaws and claws to tear apart their flesh and devour their bones.
In the end, only one officer survives. He is left with nothing but his memories of the battle and the knowledge that he will never forget the horrors of that day. The rest of the officers and scientists are lost forever in the Salton Sea, their bodies never recovered. And the creatures continue to roam free, terrorizing those who dare to cross their path.
