Based on the novel by Karel Capek, the prominent Czech writer of the early 20th century who coined the term "robot" for his play R.U.R., this story revolves around an accidental explosion in Prokop's lab, which leads him into a delirium-induced delusion where he mistakenly gives the formula for making Krakatit to one of his colleagues. In a state of delirium, he believes that he has created a weapon capable of destroying entire cities, and attempts to find the man responsible for this discovery, fearing that he might be next. As he searches for his colleague, he nearly reveals the secret to foreign forces, including anarchists and even greater threats of darkness. The story explores themes of madness, delusion, and the dangers of knowledge, as well as the complexities of human nature and the consequences of our actions.
