A stranger, disguised as a postal inspector, rides into a small western town and finds himself in the midst of a stagecoach robbery orchestrated by a gang of twenty ruthless desperadoes. Upon discovering that the object of the heist was not a strongbox but a solid gold stagecoach, he enlists the aid of an old preacher who has been down on his luck, and together they track down the gang and their unsuspected ally.
