Choi So-young (Choi Eun-hee), a poor female law student, is in trouble because her grandmother, who had been sending her tuition money, passes away. With the help of her friend Hee-suk (Kim Suk-il), who dreams of becoming a writer, So-young moves in with Choi Rim (Kim Seung-ho), a lawyer, and starts studying hard to become a lawyer herself.
At her first trial, she defends a female inmate (Hwang Jeong-sun). Coincidentally, the story of the inmate is very much similar to her own. So-young argues for her rights in tears, saying how difficult it is for a woman to survive in a cold capitalist society. After she wins the case, she goes home and confesses her crime to Choi Rim's wife (Yu Gye-seon).
The next day, Choi Rim confronts his wife about the incident. He is shocked by the revelation and realizes that So-young is not his daughter but his student. He apologizes to her and decides to take responsibility for her actions.
As time passes, So-young becomes more successful as a lawyer and eventually becomes the chief prosecutor of a major case. She continues to fight for the rights of women and uses her success to help those in need.
In the end, So-young becomes a respected legal expert and helps many people achieve their dreams. Her story serves as an inspiration for many young women around the world.
