Curt Devlin is a reporter who loves his sister Ellen Garfield, but he believes women are "bum newspapermen". When she discovers the identity of a murdered arsonist, he claims it was lucky. She goes after the murderer and gathers enough evidence to get Maitland Coulter arrested. However, when she publishes a story that has "not guilty" on it, she finds out her story was incorrect. Coulter then eavesdrops on the jury and gets the correct verdict. After being fired, she receives a confession from the real killer and releases Coulter.
