Onique Watson, a 12-year-old African American girl from Brooklyn, went missing from her home. Her father, Michael Watson, is determined to find his little girl and holds himself up through faith and will. The police are having a hard time finding her, but Christian Baker, a young New York City journalist from The Chronicle, gets assigned to the story.
Christian tries to get the assignment done quickly and poorly researches the story, going with the first lead. This brings down an unexpected series of events. Christian feels guilty about not doing enough research and decides to join Michael on their search and help find Onique. Together, they race against time and try to find the missing girl.
