It is winter in a prestigious all boys' boarding school, where children continue to practice age-old rituals and codes bound by years of hierarchy of the popular norm. Shay is picked at constantly, the main perpetrators being Arjun, the tall athletic sports captain and his best friend Baadal.
Shay and Prithi, the spunky daughter of the new Junior School Principal are cast as Bassanio and Portia in the Founders Day production of Merchant of Venice. Murali, the charismatic drama teacher unknowingly adds salt to Baadal's wounds by casting him as Shay's understudy. Indignant, Baadal vows to get Shay's part at any cost and turns to his buddy Arjun for help.
Events take a sinister turn when Shay walks in on Arjun, Baadal and their cronies on a debauched night. The group is caught up in a brawl with some rowdies from the outside world. As the fight escalates, Shay manages to save Arjun but not before he is knocked unconscious.
The next morning, Arjun wakes up to find that Shay has gone missing. He searches the school grounds but can find no sign of her. Meanwhile, Baadal is taken into custody after a series of incidents, including assaulting a fellow student.
As the investigation begins, Murali comes forward to confess that he had been secretly recording the students during rehearsals and was using the footage to blackmail them into performing poorly. He also reveals that he had set up the brawl in order to get Baadal fired and make way for himself as acting captain.
Arjun confronts Baadal about his actions and learns that he had planned the entire thing. Baadal admits that he had wanted Shay to be the star performer and had even tried to seduce her. However, he claims that he only did it out of jealousy towards Arjun.
The situation takes a dark turn when Murali is revealed to have killed Arjun and Baadal in an attempt to cover up his crimes. He then proceeds to rape several other students and attempts to rape Shay, who is still missing.
Meanwhile, Prithi is forced to perform as Portia in the play while she herself is held hostage by a gang of thieves. She manages to escape and meets up with Arjun, who is now determined to get revenge on Murali for what he has done.
Arjun and Prithi team up to track down Murali and bring him to justice. They discover that Murali had been planning to kill everyone involved in the school's drama club, including Prithi. He had even been plotting to kidnap the school principal and use her as leverage against the students.
Arjun and Prithi manage to rescue the principal and free her from Murali's clutches. They then confront Murali and reveal his true intentions. Murali confesses that he had been working for a rival drama club and had been trying to steal their scripts and cast them as lead roles in the school's production.
In the end, Murali is arrested and sentenced to prison. The school's drama club is restored to its former glory, and Shay returns safely to her friends. The students are left with a sense of justice served and a renewed appreciation for the importance of community and camaraderie.
