David Van Owen has just moved into a mysterious house, and as he begins to unpack, he discovers a box buried in his backyard, filled with 3 million dollars and a fresh corpse. He quickly realizes that this is not a normal find, and decides to keep the money hidden in the house until he can figure out what happened.
As David settles in, he becomes increasingly aware of strange noises coming from the house, and when he goes outside to investigate, he sees a figure standing in the shadows. It's a woman, and she appears to be looking for something. David follows her into the house and finds a locked door. He unlocks it and enters a room filled with old books and antique furniture. The woman disappears through a hidden door behind him.
David follows her into a small bedroom and finds a note on the bed. It reads: "You have been chosen. You have been given a gift. You have been marked." The woman then disappears again, and David knows that he needs to find out what the gift is before it's too late.
He returns to the house and finds the box of money, but this time it's empty. He searches the house frantically, but he doesn't find anything else. As he leaves the house, he hears footsteps following him, and he turns around to see the woman standing there, holding a gun. She tells David that he has been marked as the one who will receive the gift, and that he must go to a secret location where he will be tested.
David runs away, but he can't shake the feeling that something is following him. He eventually reaches a small cabin in the woods, and there he meets another person, a man named John. John explains that he is the one who marked David, and that he was chosen because he had the gift of sight. He tells David that the gift is the ability to see into the future, but that it comes with a price. If David uses his gift to harm others, he will lose it forever.
David agrees to help John test his gift, and they go back to the house. John shows him a series of images of people he's known, and David sees glimpses of their futures. He sees the woman who haunted him earlier, and he sees her die by her own hand. He also sees the body of the corpse he found in his backyard.
John then shows David a picture of a young woman, and David sees her as a child. He realizes that she is his sister, and that she was killed by her own father. John then shows David a picture of a man, and David sees his own death. He realizes that John was his father, and that he was the one who marked him.
David is now fully aware of the gift he has been given, and he realizes that he must use it to protect himself and those he loves. He goes back to the house and confronts the woman, who reveals that she is the one who killed his sister and father. David kills her, and John tells him that his gift is not meant to be used for evil.
David then goes back to the cabin and meets with John again. He tells him that he will use his gift to protect others, but that he will never hurt anyone again. John smiles at him and says goodbye, promising that he will always be there if David needs him.
David returns to the house and spends the rest of his life protecting those he loves. He never again encounters the woman or the body, and he never again experiences the fear and uncertainty that came with the gift. He knew that he had been marked, but he also knew that he had been chosen for something greater than himself.
