A woman goes to the countryside to spend a peaceful weekend after losing her job and having her last complicated relationship collapse. She rents a country house to an old-fashioned widower, who struggles to hide his psychiatric tendencies.
As she settles in, she begins to notice strange things happening around the house. The walls seem to be closing in, and the furniture seems to be moving on its own. She also hears voices in the attic, but when she goes up there, nothing is there.
Despite the strange occurrences, she finds herself drawn to the widower's quiet demeanor and his ability to make her feel safe and comfortable. As they spend time together, she starts to uncover more about the man behind the facade.
But as their bond grows stronger, so does the fear that something dark and dangerous might be lurking in the shadows of the countryside.
