When Hannah's parents decided to send her to a new school, they believed it would be a fresh start for her. However, Hannah is 11 years old and has an autism diagnosis, making it difficult for her to communicate verbally. She had a twin sister named Angel, but when Angel passed away, Hannah was forbidden from grieving and punished if she sought comfort from her sister's belongings. Now, Hannah lives in a silent life of despair, fearing that her parents will soon take her away. But when a knife keeps appearing under her pillow and a voice she thinks is coming from within her head refuses to go away, Hannah begins to suspect that she may have an ally not of this world.
