Billy Lynch, now fourteen, is a young man living with his over-protective aunt Cheryl. He has been raised by her since the death of his parents fourteen years ago. As he grows older, Billy begins to plan for his future, including attending college and dating a local girl named Julie. However, this plan is not well received by his aunt, who is losing everyone else in her life and is now concerned that her nephew is ready to leave.
To keep Billy close, Cheryl sets up a campaign to make him stay with her forever. But as her attempts to control him fail, she becomes consumed by a cycle of psychosis and frenzied violence, which is blamed on Billy by everyone else, including a homophobic detective who is increasingly anti-gay. This leads to an unexpected outcome.
