Misaki lives in a small rural town nestled between lush green mountains and a clear blue sky. Despite graduating from a prestigious university in Tokyo, she struggled to find a job that aligned with her interests and skills due to the lack of employment opportunities available to her generation. Everything seemed to be going against her as she approached her 40th birthday, feeling overwhelmed and disheartened. In her life, Misaki has always been close to her mother Mitsuko, who cares for her handicapped daughter Naoki. Despite their strained relationship, Misaki secretly enjoys spending time with Naoki, who visits their home regularly. However, one day, Misaki discovers that Naoki is having an affair with another woman, causing her heart to break. Furthermore, Misaki also has a close friendship with Kaori, a childhood sweetheart who runs a bee farm. Together, they create honey that is both sweet and soothing. But then, Kaori tragically dies in a car accident. This event deeply wounds Misaki, leaving her heartbroken and confused. As Misaki grapples with the loss of her friends and the challenges of her current life, she begins to question whether she has ever truly lived a fulfilling life. She wonders if she has ever truly loved anyone or pursued her dreams. In this dark period, she finds solace in her memories of happier times and the comfort of her bee farm, but deep down, she longs for more than just the past.
