Marple is invited to the wedding of a friend, but the gaieties are interrupted when a stranger arrives. The man provides proof that Jacko—the black sheep of the family—was wrongfully hanged for murder. The question then arises as to who in the household did kill the cold-hearted mistress two years prior. As usual, Miss Marple is needed to uncover the hatred, jealousy, lust behind the facade and sort out the threads of the mystery.
