Based on Tamara Trottner's debut novel, the series is a gritty story inspired by her own life. Set against the historical backdrop of 1960s Mexico, the plot revolves around a Jewish mother in relentless pursuit of her family amid a conflict between two powerful families of the same religion. The narrative begins in 1964, when Valeria returns home one morning to find her house perfectly organized, but her daughter and son missing.
Valeria is a devout Jew who lives with her husband, David, and their two children, a daughter named Lily and a son named Alex. Despite the fact that she has been living with her husband for years, they have never had a child together. When Valeria discovers that her daughter and son are missing, she is determined to bring them home alive.
As she searches for her children, Valeria must navigate the complex political landscape of Mexico at the time. She encounters various characters who have their own agendas, including a corrupt government official who wants to take advantage of her situation, as well as a mysterious stranger who seems to know more about the whereabouts of her children than anyone else.
Despite the challenges she faces, Valeria remains committed to finding her children and reuniting with her husband. In the end, she succeeds in bringing her children home safe and sound, but the experience leaves her feeling disillusioned and questioning the true meaning of love and family.
