Joyce rents out a room in her house and becomes dangerously obsessed with one of her guests. She is a lonely widow who has been living alone for years, but she is not content with her life and longs for companionship. One day, she meets a young man named John, who seems to be the perfect match for her. They quickly hit it off and spend time together every evening. Joyce starts to develop feelings for John, and soon they are spending more time than ever before. As their relationship grows stronger, Joyce becomes increasingly dependent on John's attention and affection.
