简介：Memorial Day, 1993. Kyle Vogel, a young teenager, discovers a World War II footlocker that belongs to his grandfather, Bud. Everyone advises him to return the item, but he defies their wishes. Bud has never spoken of his war experiences, but when Kyle asks him for souvenirs from his time in the trenches, he agrees to share them. The three treasures Kyle chooses are a medallion, a watch, and a compass. Bud tells Kyle stories about the medallion, which was given to him by a German soldier as a symbol of gratitude for saving his life. He also shares a story about a watch that once belonged to a friend who fell into enemy hands, only to be rescued by a brave American pilot. Finally, he recounts a compass that helped him find his way home after being lost in the forest during the battle. As they share these stories, Kyle and Bud realize how much their experiences have shaped their lives. Kyle is inspired to join the military and become a hero like his grandfather, while Bud is moved to continue his legacy as a patriot.
