简介：**New York: A Tale of Love and Murder** In the summer heat, Emma Jones, a neighbor in her New York apartment building, chats with her friends about Mrs. Anna Maurrant's affair with the milkman Steve Sankey. However, when rude and unfriendly Mr. Frank Maurrant arrives, they change the subject. Meanwhile, Rose Maurrant, their teenage daughter, is under pressure to marry Bert Easter, her boss. She finds herself attracted to her kind young Jewish neighbor Sam, who has a crush on her. The next morning, Mr. Frank tells his wife he is traveling to Stamford for business. When Mrs. Maurrant meets Mr. Sankey in her apartment, she is shocked when Frank suddenly returns home. Realizing his wife is upstairs with Sankey, he rushes upstairs. We hear shots and see the two men struggling as Sankey tries to escape through the window. Frank runs out with a gun and kills Sankey and severely wounds his wife. Maurrant is arrested and taken away by police. He apologizes to his daughter Rose, who now has to take care of herself and her brother without either parent. Rose's boss offers to set her up in her own apartment, but she refuses. Then she sees Sam and tells him she wants to leave the city. Sam pleads with her to let him go with her, but she tells him it will be better for them both if they have a couple of years apart before considering becoming a couple. Rose walks off down the street alone.…
